Reed switches as cell fuses

1. Long term current capability (LTC)

Procedure:

  1. test the reed switch
  2. turn on current
  3. wait Time
  4. turn off current
  5. test the reed switch

3 FCC OK 5 600 NOK heat generated, sleeve swelling observed after 1 min, case melts, smoke appears after 3 min, hole appears in case and sleeve after 4 min, constant smoke after 5 min. After test the reed is shorted (doesn't disconnect on magnetic field)

2. Flash current capability (FCC)

Procedure:

  1. test the reed switch
  2. turn on current
  3. wait Time or until circuit breaks (which is the expected result)
  4. turn off current
  5. test the reed switch

4 FCC OK 17 < 10 NOK The reed switch became NO after < 10 s, the magnetic sleeve no longer activates it.
